Advent : to arrive

Three dark purple candles, a pink candle and a white candle sitting in an advent wreath. Two of the purple candles, the pink and the white candles are lit. The background is dark with scattered and unfocused twinkle lights.

“For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders,

and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

- Isaiah 9:6

December is a month of joyful preparation at church, at home, and of course at school. In church we call the four-week period leading up to Christmas “Advent”. The word advent comes from the Latin word "to arrive". It is the season of the church year when we prayerfully and joyfully await the arrival of Jesus into the world.

As we prepare for Christmas at The Epiphany School, we will be dwelling on the themes of Advent: hope, joy, peace, love, generosity, and kindness. Cookie decorating, Christmas music, and holiday decorating are just a few ways we will celebrate the season with our students and staff.

Happy Advent!
